Military Order

The word stems from the Dutch/Afrikaans commando/kommando which is especially similar to the word commando in English which is where the word commando derives from in that idiom. The Dutch word has had the implication of "a military order" since at smallest 1652 and likely came into the language through Spanish control. Less probably, it is a High German loan word, which was have access to from Italian in the 1600s, from the sizable minority of German settlers in the early European immigration of South Africa.
After the Dutch Cape Colony was established in 1652, the word was use to describe bands of inhabitant or Burgher militia. The earliest "Commando Law" was instated by the real Dutch East India Company chartered arangements and similar laws were preserved through the sovereign Boer Orange Free State and South African Republic. The realization of these laws was described the "Commando System." A set of accumulated militiamen were organized in a unit known as a commando and headed by a Commandant, who was usually chosen from inside the unit. Men named up to provide were said to be "on commando." British experience with this system lead to the widespread taking on of the word "commandeer" into English in the 1880s.
During the Great Trek, clashes with southern African people such as the Xhosa and the Zulu rooted the Boers to retain the commando method despite being free of colonial acts. During this period, the Boers also developed guerrilla methods for use against numerically greater but less portable bands of natives such as the Zulu who brawled in huge complex developments.
In the First Boer War, Boer commandos were able to use better marksmanship, conceal and mobility to expel an occupying British force (inadequately qualified in marksmanship, wearing red uniforms and unmounted) from the Transvaal. In the conclude segment of the war, 75,000 Boers lugged out asymmetric combat against the 450,000-strong British Empire forces for two years after the British had confined the capital cities of the two Boer states.
In 1941, Lieutenant-Colonel D. W. Clarke of the British Imperial General Staff, suggested the name Commando for specialized raiding units of the British Army Special Service in air of the effectiveness and tactics of the Boer commandos. During World War II, American newspapers puzzled over the use of the word as a British military unit or approach gave rise to the present common habit of using "a commando" to mean one member of such a unit, or one man engaged on a raiding-type operation.

Today, there are lots of commando apparels and gear sold in the market. One of these important gear is the commando boots.
