Use A Headline On Your Postcard To Help Pass The Glance Test
When designing your postcard, make sure that it will pass "The Glance Test".
Post office studies have shown that most people do look at all of their mail including advertising. However, the person who picks up your postcard from the mailbox will glance at it for just a few seconds before deciding to keep it or discard it. So the first goal of your postcard design is the get noticed. One method used successfully on many postcards to pass "The Glance Test" is a powerful, comical or interesting headline.

A painting company used this one to highlight a new process guaranteed to last 50 years or more.
You get the idea. Remember, passing the glance test only gets you to first base. You still have to convince the reader to contact you. More about that in my next article.
