Washington - The Jewel of United States
USA is the commercial, political and the industrial epicenter of the world and the only superpower today. It is the home to the most powerful organizations and one of the most powerful people in the world. Geographically, in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States lays Washington. One of the most developed states in the US. According to the country's census, as of 2008, Washington has an estimated population of 6,549,224, which is an increase of 11.1%, since the year 2000.
Washington has a marine climate that varies from the west to east, the high and the low pressures of the ocean and the air determines its climate. The temperature in Washington ranges from 51° F to 40° F towards the northeast. Adding to the surprise, there were times when the highest recorded temperatures was 118° F and the lowest was -48° F in the state. Apart from its mild climate, western part of the state is well known for showing forms of precipitation as fog, drizzles. It is cold in summer as well as winters. Precipitation is seen increasing towards the Rocky Mountains.
Washington has 9 fascinating national forests, monuments, protected wildernesses, military, and other protected lands. The very famous Olympic national park, Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, Hanford Reach National Monument, Juniper Dunes Wilderness, Wild Sky Wilderness, Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge, Little Pend Oreilles National Wildlife Refuge, McCord Air Force Base, Hanford Site, Ross Lake National Recreation Areas an Juan Island National Historical Park are tourist destinations of this state. Washington is part of Pacific Northwest of the USA. The range of the famous Cascade Mountains runs through the state, bisecting it. Also there are dense forests of coniferous trees and areas of temperate green forests in Washington. Mt. Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams are the major peaks in the state. Some of them have great tourist destinations and amusement parks near them. Mount St. Helens is currently the only volcano that is actively erupting. Being the land of contrasts, Washington has Mt. Rainer, which is the highest peak in the state covered with more glacial ice than any of the 48 states south to it.
Talking about the tourist destinations, Washington is home to well known and beautiful national parks and wild life sanctuaries. Mount Rainier National Park, North Cascades National Park, Olympic National Park among others is well known and praised by the world. Also worth giving visits are the spectacular cities of the state; Seattle is the most populated city with a population of 602,000. The city is an industrial hub for migrants from all over the world. The German, English, Irish, Norwegian, Mexican, African American and Filipino are the six largest ancestries found here, making it a blend of cultures and a mixture of dialects. The main religion in Washington of course, is Christianity along with affiliations of Protestants, Mainline, and Evangelical. Synonymous to other states, the percentage of the states population identifying themselves as "non-religious" is higher than the national average of USA.
