How to Choose the Right Size Weathervane Then Install
Weathervane usually feature the interest of the owner; from chicken, horses, pigs, and other livestock for farmers, to deer or water foul for the hunter to sporting scenes or figures of a humorous nature. Derived from the Old English word fane, meaning flag or banner, the weathervane has been a part of culture since 48 BC. Weathervanes as with cupolas need to be sized right to get that second glance from the ground view.
Placed on top of a cupola or on top of a building. When choosing the right size to be placed on top of an cupola, select the weathervane roughly the same size as the cupola base, or within 6 inches either way.
Weathervanes are generally available in three sizes. The larger ones are for large homes, barns or commercial buildings. They present an impressive scale with elegant design.
When buildings have a peak around 12 feet tall, examples homes, garages, or gazebos, the full size weathervane would be appropriate. The garden or cottage weathervanes are for small buildings and create whimsical, delightful accents while adding a personal touch.
